Voiceover from the heart..

As a voiceover artist you get to work on a wide range of projects, some of which are fascinating, some are topics you have never heard of, meaning there’s tricky words to say. Other’s are areas of significance interest to you meaning you can voice from the heart.

I was fortunate to work on a recent project with Brighton based animation studio Formplay to voice a beautiful animation they had created for Fertility Network UK  as part of this year’s National Fertility Awareness Week.

If you’ve looked through my website you will have seen I host and produce a podcast called The Fertility Podcast   so the subject in the video is one that is extremely personal to me and to be honest, I was so proud to get to voice it as I felt I could be so real and truthful in how I spoke the words on the script.

It was an interesting lesson to me, regarding how I approach a script. Thinking so much about the audience and what they are thinking and feeling. This was highlighted in a recent workshop I attended with Guy Michaels and The Voiceover Network in Manchester. Guy talked about how best to approach your script and the process to go through even if it’s a topic that means nothing to you. The importance of really thinking through what the person listening might be needing to get out of the message.

There is constant learning to be done in the voiceover world and every job I do, I feel it becomes just that little bit clearer making me that little bit prouder of what I’ve just done.
